Awamary has worked across several non-profit organizations in the United States, including as Regional Finance Executive for The American Red Cross, Chief Financial Officer for Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, and Executive Vice President, Chief Financial & Operating Officer for Carolina Small Business Development Fund.
After relocating to Spain and The Gambia, she’s now CEO & Principal Consultant of AKHAN Inc, a management consulting company; and also Founder & CEO of The Woman Boss, a global NGO which empowers female innovaters, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Through her work with The Woman Boss, she has international development experience and has worked with several UN agencies.
She received her MBA from Upper Iowa University, Executive Education Program from Harvard University and Duke University, and Bachelor of Science from Shaw University.
